Assistant Museum Manager
Backus-Page House Museum (operated by Tyrconnell Heritage Society) are seeking a post-secondary student to fill the Assistant Museum Manager position for the 2022-2023 museum season, south of Wallacetown, Ontario. Duties will include museum tours, visitor services, lead demonstrations within exhibits and outdoors on museum grounds.  Also included is museum collection management, research, writing and exhibit installation, programming, events and office administration. Additional tasks may include site interpretation, maintenance, public relations, blogging, video editing and social media. The successful candidate may also assist in the development of new programs as directed and provide guidance to volunteers.  Supplies and equipment will be prepared for programs and light cleaning duties related to exhibits and artifacts and historic buildings will be done.  Requirements - computer experience, current First Aid and CPR, current police check, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multi task and strong public interaction skills. The candidate must be able to lead and instruct individuals in recreational and leisure programs as well as plan, implement, promote, organize and deliver outdoor and museum programs and events. The candidate must be available to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays. All COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. This position is posted pending grant approval for an employment term subsidy from Young Canada Works through the Canadian Museum Association. Shifts for this position vary and are based on our operational requirements.
