Welcome back to another weekend highlights, where we provide you every Thursday with activities happening in Elgin County. Let’s get in to the fun events/activities our community is holding!
The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority and Foundation is holding Sydenham River Canoe and Kayak Race on Sunday, May 1, 2022. This event is a fundraiser for the SCRCA’s Conservation Education program! All funds will help support outdoor education for children in the St. Clair Region! The event is co-sponsored by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority and its Foundation. For the 7 km races the classes include Recreation, Lazy River, VIP, Touring (the over 50 crowd), and Novice Kayak. The 12 km races include Rec Tandem Men, Rec Tandem Mixed, and Amateur Kayak. The 16 km races include Pro C2 Men, Pro C2 Mixed, and Expert Kayak. Participants must supply their own canoe or kayak. You can register online by April 28th or the day of the races! Whether you love competition or enjoy kayaking/canoeing this event is a great way to have fun, raise money for the community, and get some physical activity. The London Ukrainian Centre presents a Benefit Concert of Ukraine! Saturday April 30th, 2022, enjoy Vocal, musical, and dance performers, Ukrainian food & beverages available for purchase, silent auction, vendors, kids craft corner & more! Everyone is invited to join! London is home to over 12,000 Ukrainians, support the community, and learn more about the culture. Family Centre White Oaks is holding Outdoor Early ON Playgroup April 29th, 2022! Kids will get to walk the trails of White Oaks Park, and explore the forest! Dutton is hosting a Cruise Inn! Get those old cars and trucks out and show them off! The last Wednesday of each month starting May 25th, drive down to the centre of Currie Road and join the fun! The event will be open to the public 5pm-8pm!
Backus-Page House Museum has new hours of operation! Starting May 1 to Halloween, we’ll be open for tours Tuesdays to Sundays 10am to 4pm. Closed Mondays. We are open off season by appointment 519-762-3072. We hope to see you soon!
